An amendment to the Penal Code has been in force since June 1. Under the new regulations, indebted alimonists may face imprisonment of up to two years. The consequences will include people who are in arrears with payment for at least 3 months. The Ministry of Justice explains that in this way he wants to force dishonest parents to be responsible for the child’s maintenance.
The reason for tightening the regulations is also the low effectiveness of bailiff executions. In Poland, debt collection remains at 19.5%, while in Denmark it is 88% [1].
Important – you can avoid being punished. To this end, the debtor must pay all arrears within 30 days of the first hearing by the prosecutor.
