Is it going to snow in Utah tonight?

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Hope you enjoy the calm before the Utah storm! This lovely light, calm weather is expected to persist through the evening hours before some showers set in overnight.

This afternoon we expect cloud cover to increase, but that won’t stop us from warming up. Highs will be in the mid 40s and mid 50s for most of us thanks to a little warmer air before the storm hits us.

The winds also start to pick up throughout the day and we can expect to see them persist as well. As evening approaches, we expect to see these clouds really intensify and areas of higher elevation will see snow start to fall. This will only affect our peaks for now.

Later that night we see the rain start to hit the valley floor before we see the colder air come in and change it to snow! This will bring us to seeing our first measurable snowfall at the Salt Lake City airport for the first time this season. The minimums will be around the 20s and 30s.

In short, a calm day brings us to a busier night in wet weather.
