Utah’s sunny weather will give way to rain this weekend

Northern Utah can see showers Saturday through Wednesday.

It’s going to be sunny in Utah for a few days, until the rain returns to the upstate.

Mostly sunny skies are expected statewide ahead of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. In Salt Lake City, temperatures are forecast in the mid-60s on Thursday and around 70 on Friday.

Then, just in time for the weekend, temperatures are expected to drop into the 50s with more rain in the forecast – a 40% chance Saturday, with 50% Saturday night and 30% chance Sunday.

Next week, another storm is also expected to bring more rain to northern Utah on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

High winds – with gusts of 45 to 60 mph – are possible in western Utah on Monday. Heavy mountain snowfall is possible above 9,000 feet late Monday through Tuesday.

The weekend is looking better in southern Utah. Mostly sunny through Monday, with temperatures in the 70s in St. George. There is a chance of rain Monday afternoon and a higher chance Monday evening, possibly lingering Tuesday, the weather service said.
